What I think is really cool is that the benefits of spending time alone with nature have a lot to do with connecting. Not to diminish the tranquility of communing, but nature opens the doors for us to connect with other people as well.
These doors are opened to us when we see and hear things that remind us of things seemingly quite different. The sound of birch leaves blowing in mountain winds is incredibly similar to the sound of the ocean, for example.
Too much of our daily lives are spent with egos and isolation. I can’t imagine how that can be good for us.
I think it is good for us to observe things and wonder what they are. In that way we can experience the connections. Maybe these observations will sink in and let us realize we are much more alike than we are different.
As I was looking at the photos of last night’s sunset I saw how the texture of the clouds looked a lot like water, or lava? a flame? Below I have filtered and cropped a photo to play with this further.
